Prof. Dr. Richard Moncorgé received the Doctorat degree in Atomic and Molecular Physics from the University of Lyon in 1976 and the Doctorates Sciences Physiques degree in 1982. He was Directeur de Recherche at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) between 1993 and 1997, then a Professor of “classe exceptionnelle”, leading researches in the group “Materials and Laser Instrumentation” (MIL) of the Centre de Recherchesur les Ions, les Matériaux et la Photonique (CIMAP), at the University of Caen Basse-Normandie (UCBN).
He was the principal coordinator of the CNRS national network CMDO+ for “Cristaux Massifs, Micro-nano-structures et Dispositifs pour l’Optique” and a Topical Editor of the J. Opt. Soc. Am. B for the Luminescent Compounds and Processes and the Laser Materials.
He was a Committee member, a Program or a General Chair of many international conferences among which the famous Advanced Solid State Lasers (ASSL) conference which was recently organized in Berlin in 2015 and in Boston in October 2016.
He is the author or the co-author of several book chapters, including one full lecture book of nearly 1000 pages on “Atomic and Molecular Physics”, and the author or the co-author of more than 320 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals.
He is now an Emeritus Professor at the University of Caen, a Fellow of the American and European Optical Societies (EOS, OSA) and an Editorial Advisor of the French Scientific & Technical review “Techniques de l’Ingénieur” more particularly in charge of the Optical Materials.
